"The Changing Role of Scientists in Society"Dr. John Durant, Director of the MIT Museum; Adjunct Professor in the Technology and Science ProgramWHEN: Monday May 17, 3:00-4:00pmWHERE: Harvard Science Center, Hall A, Cambridge MAReception to follow--refreshments will be served. The season on commencement is upon us again and it's time to reflect about what it is that we're training for. What is a scientist? What do we add to society? How do we and how should we contribute? With talk of "Denialism" and mounting skepticism about scientific expertise in the air, the role of the scientist in society is up for re-examination. This talk will argue for greater participation of researchers in direct dialogue with the public, and it will point to emerging opportunities for such participation locally and nationally.Join MIT Museum Director Dr. John Durant for an informative public lecture about the changing role of scientists in society!Questions?
