"Women in the lab: getting ahead and getting along"Weds., Nov. 5, 3:30-5:30pmDudley House Graduate Student Lounge***RSVP Required***In this highly interactive workshop you will learn and practicetechniques for dealing with difficult situations and people in thescientific workplace. We will specifically focus on areas ofscientific life in which gender may affect the nature and outcome ofinteractions.We will examine circumstances in which scientists have difficulty -discussing authorship, receiving and giving criticism and dealing withinterpersonal conflicts in the lab and will examine the role of genderin such situations. We will explore the impediments to successfulmanagement of difficult situations and will learn how our ownpersonalities and behaviors influence our ability to performsuccessfully under stress. We will provide you with some practicalapproaches to help you deal with such interactions productively.This seminar will be run by Drs. Carl and Suzanne Cohen. Carl is thepresident of Science Management Associates, has over a decade ofexperience in science management consulting and training, as well asmany years of experience in basic biomedical research.
