It began with interviews with more than 100 remarkable women leaders, who’ve sustained leadership careers (and, for most, families) in fields from business to orchestra conducting to espionage—and who usually wake up every morning profoundly content with the choices they’ve made. Combined with other research in psychology and leadership, and surveys of more than 2000 executives, the team has distilled five elements that, used together, can allow anyone, at any stage in his or her career, to have a more meaningful, more joyful, and more successful life.The Centered Leadership framework is based on the following five elements:-- Meaning: finding your purpose and strengths and deploying them in your work to flourish-- Energizing: knowing where your energy comes from, how it is drained, and what you can do to manage it-- Framing: adopting a more constructive way to view your world, expanding your horizons, and gaining the confidence and resilience to move ahead-- Connecting: identifying who can help you grow and finding your place among them-- Engaging: finding your voice and taking ownership of your opportunitiesWith a little help from the audience Jennifer will explain how you can begin to apply this holistic approach to leadership in your own life, whether you are interested in pursuing an academic, industry, or consulting career. Jennifer Thomas is an Organization Expert in the Miami office of McKinsey & Company, Inc. For the past two years, she has focused on merger management and organizational transformation in banking, retail, consumer products and other sectors. Jennifer has lead Human Resource (HR) transformation and merger integration initiatives with a focus on creating best practice HR results. She also provides expert support to McKinsey’s HR service line, and engages many clients in building HR effectiveness. Jennifer’s recent client experience includes HR organization design and effectiveness transformation; talent infrastructure; and cultural and HR infrastructure integration planning and post merger management. Prior to joining McKinsey, Jennifer held senior executive HR roles in several Fortune 500 companies including Diageo, Citibank and PepsiCo, both domestically and internationally, and was owner and managing principal of her organizational consulting firm with operations in Hong Kong and the U.S.Sponsored by the GSC and HILS
